By drawing from the journey out of Egypt, Rabbi Danny Burkeman, describes the onset of vaccinations and the hopefully end to the pandemic as our "wilderness". He talks about how the Jewish ancestors were unhappy with the uncertainty of the wilderness that lay before them but were guided by the hope of the Promised Land. The pandemic's "wilderness" is this new phase as vaccinations become more common and Burkeman urges readers to look to the lessons from Moses and the Israelites to help navigate these uncertainties.
Sophia Zohar, a Jewish artist who goes by Maimonides Nutz, created this design with the words "Tzedek, Tzedek Tirdof" (Exodus 23:8) burning in Hebrew, meaning "justice, justice you shall pursue." The design, that could be printed and sold on various products including a face mask, raised money for the bail funds for the protesters in Minneapolis and eventually raised over $9,000.
